Interview with Karen from The F Wrap!
Last weekend was the Great Cloth Diaper Change, a wonderful event at the Ottawa Birth and Wellness centre raising awareness of cloth diapers!
While I enjoyed seeing the adorable diapers and even more adorable babies, getting to know the sponsors really is one of my favorite parts. Today I'm going to share my interview with Karen, Owner of The F Wrap and Nature Prenatal.
Where did the idea for The F Wrap come from?
It was an idea I had brewing for a while and I don't remember one specific reason I started making cloth pads. It was a combination of events that led me down this journey. I started Nature Prenatal to help women during and before pregnancy with nutrition and the idea to add cloth pads came afterwards. I only learned about them myself around the time I had my baby and I absolutely love them! I only wish I had started using cloth sooner. I wanted to share this with women everywhere so they too could make the switch to cloth.
Where did you come up with the name?
I wish I could take credit for the name The F Wrap. I have a very clever and creative friend who came up with it for me after a few brainstorming sessions. Most people don't know that it actually stands for Feminine Washable Reusable Absorbent Pad.
You also own another business, tell us about that?
I am a Registered Holistic Nutritionist, and Nature Prenatal is my nutrition consulting business specializing in pregnancy and babies. I decided to focus on pregnancy after having my own baby because it is such a special time in a woman's life. Nutrition plays a very important role in the health of both mom and baby.
What is your top 3 tips for prenatal nutrition?
It's difficult to narrow it down to only three, but I'll try.
1. Eat real food and don't pay attention to the latest trends.
2. Cook your own meals, at least most of the time.
3. Be kind to yourself. Don't beat yourself up if you eat ice cream or a chocolate bar. Nobody's perfect.
What are the top benefits to "mama cloth"?
That's easy. They are better for your personal health because they are natural, and chemical free. They are better for the environment and they save you money.
