Interview With Katie From Bumbini Cloth Diaper Company!

Bumbini is one of the amazing sponsors of this years Ottawa Great Cloth Diaper Change!
I interviewed her to find out more about Bumbini and how it all came to be!

Where did the idea for Bumbini come from?

I cloth diapered both of my kids, and absolutely loved it. When my youngest was about 6 months old and both kids were finally sleeping (relatively) well, I decided I needed a challenge. As luck would have it, the opportunity to purchase Bumbini from its former owner presented itself at the perfect time, and I became the proud new owner of it.
I decided I wanted Bumbini to be a resource that provided support to cloth diapering parents, not just a place to buy them. I started our blog, started offering diaper trial programs and holding cloth diaper workshops. And now, almost 3 years later I'm even more determined to help parents throughout their cloth diapering journeys.

Where did you come up with the name?

Haha, I wish I did because it is so cute. Bumbini actually was named by its founder, and I think was a combination of "Bum" and "Bambini".

You sell more then just cloth diapers! Tell us about the other products you sell/rent?

I sure do. We rent out birth pools in the Ottawa area, which are perfect if you are having a home birth, or just want to labour at home. We provide everything you need (disposable pool liner, brand new filler hose, pumps etc) and bring it right to your door. And since you don't need another stress, we are super flexible!
We also have a lot of different products even for parents that don't cloth diaper. We have skin care products, mama cloth, swim stuff (UV tees are perfect for my super fair family!) and so much more.

What is your favorite cloth diaper?

I have a few, actually! I love Best Bottom and Funky Fluff, which were mainstays of our diaper collection. I also have a soft spot for the sweet ruffles of AppleCheeks!

What are the top benefits to cloth diapering?

I could go on for a while on this topic. There really are benefits for everyone, whether financial, health or environmental. For me, it was money, since the thought of throwing thousands of dollars in the landfill made me a little queasy. There are tons of benefits though -  creating far less garbage, using less chemicals on your baby, and (shocking to most people!) less poop explosions!!

Where can people stay in touch with you?

I am super accessible to anyone with cloth diaper questions. The easiest way to reach me is by email
